Programmers have a sense of humor, eh what?
It's an Apple iTunes message that I now see pops up when I open iTunes all on it's own.
And that tells me that this software depends on and or interacts with iTunes.
Apple seems averse to directly offering iTunes for Windows anymore, instead directing us to Microsoft store.
So this software for Windows is crippled multiple ways by depending in Apple iTunes that no longer directly supports Windows.
Cool.
Of course there are workarounds .. at Apple, scroll down to
'Looking for other versions? macOS Windows'
.. and click on 'Windows', duh, and the next webpage offers an Apple direct link:
https ://www. apple. com/itunes/download/win64
.. even though the webpage expects you to have already clicked on the first offered link above to go to the Microsoft store.
Now I will download and reinstall iTunes to see if I can eliminate the error.
__________
Regardless, DRmare Audio Converter 2.3.0 for Windows looks like ONLY DRM removal-and-save a new file format.
This does NOT look like a general purpose audio converter for other input files, such as files that do not have DRM but are in other formats we might like to convert.
So DRmare Audio Converter 2.3.0 for Windows is a [ DRM-removal-and-save-as ] program.
NOT an [ audio file converter ] program.
Oh well.
One trick ponl then.
I personally never use DRM material, but if I find someone who does, perhaps I can try this on their stuff to see if it removes DRM, and then I can give feedback.
Now my assignment is to find someone with DRM material in the next 6 months, copy it to my computer, deDRM-and-save-as, and report.

This is probably obvious but this program requires iTunes to function.

TK,
if you read the lines of text at the top of the page you will see that it says'Remove DRM from iTunes M4V Movie Purchases & Rentals.'
I guess it should have been in bold 24 point type.
Shame on them for hiding it in with the regular text at the same font and point size along with the other info.
So if you do not use itunes or have any videos that are M4V then why would you want to download this?

Bob, if you read as written it is just linking the name iTunes as the originator of M4V DRM protected video files, nothing more. It is absolutely not saying you have to use iTunes to use the program to remove the DRM.
You could have obtained the M4V files from file sharing websites or programs or neigbours thinking you could remove the DRM from them with this program from that description, which you could not. You'd need iTunes an apple id and DRM protected M4V you had bought from apple using that same account to get this to use iTunes DRM decoder to produce a video stream that this could then either transcode to an mp4 or re-encode it to a differnt codec.
They say specifically on their site that this requires iTunes 12.9 or earler I think we should have been entitiled to that specific system requirement here too!

Ootje, yes it can be used a generic ffmpeg gui based video converter but as the description says:
'As its name suggests, this software is specially for removing iTunes DRM and converting iTunes M4V videos such as iTunes movies, TV shows, Extras.'
No one would buy an GUI for an OLD XP compatible build of FFMPEG rather than a current version 4.x build of FFMPEG program and codecs. I note they have no attribution to the open source products they use or the acompanying licenses.. but why would anyone expect a developer building software to circumvent a different software companies copyright DRM also respect the copyrights of those open source products they build their product around.. and yet they exepct others to respect their copyright licensing!
